Stefano Amerighi "Apice" Cortona Syrah (2020)

Varietal(s): 100% Syrah

Peppery, blue-fruited nose with hints of smoked spices, dried orange peel, crushed stones and sweet tobacco. Medium-bodied with tense, juicy acidity and fine but quite tight, slightly chewy tannins. Dry and savory at the end, with cedar character. Succulent citrus finish with just a hint of nuts. This is well made and balanced, with a lot going on.

More about this wine: This Syrah comes from grapes matures "at the peak" of the de' Canonici vineyard. Aged for two and a a half years in bottle, Stefano only produces this in exceptional vintages; he feels that this bottling represents the "family silver".
