Scar of the Sea Old Vine Zinfandel from Lopez Vineyard in Cucamonga Valley, California, is a tribute to California’s viticultural heritage. Sourced from dry-farmed, organically certified vines planted in 1918, this historic vineyard is located in sandy granite soils just 70 miles inland from Los Angeles. The wine is fermented with native yeast and 50% whole cluster, then aged for 8 months in old French oak. It offers vibrant aromas of crushed red berries, wild herbs, and earthy spice, with flavors of candied raspberry, blueberry, tea leaves, and dried flowers. This Zinfandel is bright and energetic, with a mineral-driven structure, fresh acidity, and subtle tannic grip from the whole cluster fermentation. With just 264 cases produced, it is bottled without fining or filtration and minimal sulfur. Best served slightly chilled, it pairs excellently with grilled sausages, herb-marinated lamb, or roasted root vegetables. This wine is a perfect expression of an old California vineyard, offering complexity and freshness in every sip.
