Scar of the Sea's Bassi Vineyard has an ocean view, offering a unique snapshot of a true coastal vineyard in California, full of energy and precision. This wine features aromas of nutty, sour orange, struck stone, and singed citrus peel. On the palate, it offers a unique blend of tart seared orange rind, ash, and chalky minerality, with hints of lemon cake and caramel apple, creating an intriguing and complex flavor profile. This wine is 65% Pinot Gris and 35% Chardonnay. The Pinot Gris was destemmed and then blended with Bassi Chardonnay juice from the press to ferment together. The wine fermented with native yeast in standing 228L old oak barrels for 3 weeks, then was gently pressed in our wooden basket press. The wine aged for 8 months in old French oak barrels and was bottled with minimal sulfur, and without fining or filtration. 120 cases produced.
