The 2018 Quinta da Muradella Alanda Tinto is a characterful red wine from the Monterrei DO in Galicia, Spain. It blends Mencía, Arauxa (Tempranillo), Garnacha Tintorera, and Mouraton grapes sourced from various vineyards across the region. The wine is aged for 15 months in a mix of concrete, steel, and French oak foudres, followed by an additional year in stainless steel tanks before bottling. This process enhances its freshness, purity, and fine tannins. The wine offers a medium-bodied profile with bright red fruit flavors and a touch of earthiness, balanced by savory and spicy notes, including pink peppercorn and balsamic. It has moderate alcohol and excellent clarity of aroma and flavor, with a harmonious, smooth mouthfeel. Rated 93 points by Wine Advocate and 91 points by Vinous, it pairs well with gamey meats, stinky cheeses, and fried foods.
