The 2022 Domaine du Gringet La Bergerie Ayze Blanc is a stunning expression of Gringet, crafted from vines planted between 1947 and the 1980s in the Savoie region. This wine is a blend from two plots, Le Pré Milleret and Chez Reydet, with varying substrates including yellow marl, white marl, and limestone scree. The wine showcases a beautiful texture, with fine-grained detail and chalkiness that gives way to a broad palate. The fruit profile includes pear, melon, and mandarin, while the wine's subtle saline mineral quality adds freshness. The finish is complex, with lingering chalk and licorice notes. Vinification at Domaine du Gringet is minimal and natural, with grapes being hand-harvested, gently pressed, and fermented with native yeasts. The wine is aged for nine months on fine lees in a combination of concrete vats (2/3) and stainless steel vats (1/3), then rests for 10 months in the bottle before release.
