2017 Alexander Valley Vineyards Cyrus

The 2016 and 2015 vintages of Alexander Valley Cyrus are a dark purple/red color with layered aromas of cassis, black cherry, black plum, cedar, dark chocolate, and hints of toasty oak and vanilla. These silky wines have flavors of cassis, dark chocolate, dark fruits, black cherry, barrel spice, and cardamom. They have a smooth texture, excellent balance, and a long structured finish. As the wine sits in the glass, it continues to build on itself, hinting at the complexity that will occur with additional cellar aging. This red blend is the ideal gift, celebrating the region and the very best of the vintage. The 2016 vintage was produced by winemaker Kevin Hall, who selected ten distinctive lots of estate Bordeaux grapes, anchoring the blend with three complex lots of Cabernet Sauvignon. The resulting wine was aged for 24 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a seamless blend. The 2015 vintage experienced lower yields due to the western drought, resulting in grapes with terrific concentration and superb fruit flavors. This wine also has elegant texture, excellent balance, and a long structured finish, promising complexity with aging.
