Founded by the noble family behind Champagne Taittinger, Claude Taittinger's search for a worthy U.S. counterpart began in the late 70s. In 1987 he selected a one hundred and thirty eight acre parcel in the heart of Carneros, Napa Valley. Wisely choosing Eileen Crane to oversee the development of the Taittinger style in Carneros. Often referred to as America's Doyenne of Sparkling Wine, Eileen has spent roughly forty years in the wine industry, which makes her the most experienced sparkling winemaker in the United States. Spearheaded by Eileen, sustainability has been an important tenet of Domaine Carneros since 1987. Every three years, she sets measurable goals and reevaluates them annually to ensure that they are living as lightly on the land as possible, while producing fantastic grapes and wine. Domaine Carneros holds both the Napa Green Land and Napa Green Winery certifications for their numerous efforts in water and energy conservation and waste diversion. Their carbon neutral program is the equivalent of growing sixty six thousand tree seedlings for ten years or taking eight hundred and fifty cars off the road for an entire year. Their solar array is the largest of any winery in the world. Theyre also Fish Friendly Farming certified. Aromas of white flowers, apple pie, and citrus peel are enhanced with notes of toast and vanilla. The wine is elegantly structured, round and flavorful with a signature long, creamy finish.
