The Estate Cabernet is the signature wine of Obsidian Ridge, embodying the complexity and wildness of the site. The structure and intensity of upper blocks are complemented by the aromatics and acidity of cooler blocks, resulting in aromas of freshly-cut red cherries with hints of cinnamon, spice, coffee nibs, blueberries, and black pepper. Flavors of mulberry, plum, dark chocolate, coffee, and fresh blackberry are woven with dried oregano, chaparral, and a shy side of blackberries and a gentle floral lift. The wine's rich texture of fine, leathery tannins carries notes of star anise, cinnamon, and orange peel, creating a riper, fuller, but quieter vintage in 2017. Silky tannins keep the wine lively on the finish, speaking clearly but not shouting. This blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Malbec inspires pairing with Mediterranean dishes.
