Southern Rhône Valley Tasting
This week we are going to the Southern Rhône region of France where the red wines are pronounced, complex, and a great value. Specifically, the great reds exhibit flavors of ripe raspberry and blackberry, dried rosemary and lavender, baking spices, and cracked pepper. They are typically dry wines with a lot of body and tannin structure to them capable of being consumed young or cellaring!
Our virtual tasting this week will feature two of these classic red wines featuring the GSM blend; a blend of three grape varietals, Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvedre. While not all wines from the Southern Rhône represent this varietal blend, it is the most common and can be amazing when done well.
