As summer starts to fade, the September wines have been selected to perfectly accompany this seasonal change we long for every year! Members will experience a crisp, bright, and refreshing white from the northern coast of Spain along with a chill-able Nebbiolo from the hills of Piedmont that makes you hope for fall to come early!
Bodega K5 "K Pilota" Sobre Lías:
Getariako Txakolina DO, País Vasco (Basque Region), Spain - 91 Pts. Wine Spectator | Organic, Biodynamic & Sustainable
Varietals: 100% Hondarrabi Zuri
Tasting Notes: Aromas of acacia blossoms and spun honey lace flavors of persimmon, yellow peach and Marcona almond in this layered white. Fresh and focused, with good length and the tang of fleur de sel on the finish.
Serving Recommendations: Serve this wine chilled (40-50°F) and 15 minutes after opening and pulling out of the refrigerator.
Cheese Pairings: Soft and buttery cheeses such as Brie, Camembert, Havarti, Mascarpone, Butterkäse, and double or triple-cream (Le Délice de Bourgogne & Saint-André)
Food Pairings: Seafood: raw oysters, prawns, sardines, and tuna dishes. This wine is also fantastic with green salads tossed in a light vinaigrette. Sommelier secret… try with fried chicken… thank us later.
Margherita Otto Langhe Nebbiolo
Monforte d’Alba, Piedmont, Italy - Sommelier Selection
Varietal: 100% Nebbiolo
Tasting Notes: The Langhe Nebbiolo is lush and approachable, with generous rounded black cherry fruit, forest floor, and pine. It is pure and clean on the palate, with wild berries, ripe yet present tannins, and fruit that expands through the palate.
Serving Recommendations: Open this wine an hour before serving and serve slightly chilled (55-65°F).
Cheese Pairings: Aged Italian cheeses such as Pecorino, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Grana Padano, Asiago, Bagòss
Food Pairings: Red meat, game, veal, and stews are all exceptional pairings. Go classic Italian by making agnolotti or paniscia! Vegetarians can discover the magical pairing of mushrooms and Nebbiolo with mushroom risotto or mushroom lentil bolognese.
