Finch Wine Club - October 2025 Release

This month members will have the opportunity to experience two different examples of incredible Pinot Noir from New Zealand, one from Canterbury and one from Marlborough. Great Pinot Noir from New Zealand can be incredibly layered and complex. The wines often offer a beautiful combination of both new and old characteristics.

The climate in New Zealand is cool and more similar to that of Burgundy or France while the wine making style tends to be slightly more modern offering brighter and more pristine flavors! Watching this region evolve over just the last decade has been exciting, and this month you will have the opportunity to experience two of our favorites for yourself!

Characteristics often found in top quality New Zealand Pinot Noir:

  • Fruit: red cherry, bramble berry, boysenberry
  • Floral: lavender, violet, rose
  • Spice: anise, clove, sarsaparilla, licorice
  • Earth: smoke, mushroom, truffle
  • Oak: tobacco, coffee, cocoa

2019 Mt. Beautiful Pinot Noir

North Canterbury, New Zealand

92 Points Wine Enthusiast

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir

The nose is heady and perfumed: vivid cherries, strawberries and florals, with whispers of white pepper, river stones, and vanilla bean. The medium weight palate is similarly vibrant, leading with fresh, silky red berries framed in savory tannins.

Subtlety is the secret inside this wine. It begins with sophisticated floral fragrances of sweet spice and ripe soft red berry fruits, while showcasing an elegant medium-weight palate that features fragrant strawberry and bramble fruit, earthiness and subtle tannins.

2022 Greywacke Pinot Noir

Marlborough, New Zealand

96 Points Wine Enthusiast

Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir

This is a wine that reminds us why we love fermented grapes in the first place. From the heady, hopelessly charming perfume of mixed berry compote, peppery spice, sage and dried flowers on their stalks, to the wonderfully bright acidity that plays alongside taut, sinewy tannins and tangy berry, floral and herbal notes—it's hard to resist.
